California Surf Museum

Aug 04th 2015

The California Surf Museum, located only seven miles north in Oceanside, is a great way to spend an afternoon learning about this vibrant aspect of SoCal culture.

Along with the factual side of things, you’ll find boards belonging to famous surfers such as, “Soul Surfer” Bethany Hamilton and Duke Kahanamoku, the supposed father of surfing. The museum also offers presentations of iconic surf films, and if you’re lucky enough to catch the live surf guitar band, stick around; they are well worth the listen.

Those unfamiliar with the sport should feel at ease; tour guides here have laid back attitudes and are happy to answer any questions. For more information visit their website.

Oceanside has plenty to offer aside from this one museum, including a beautiful harbor, whale watching tours and fabulous restaurants. You can even go to the museum in the morning then try your hand at surfing that afternoon! If you’re interested, come by the front desk and we’ll help you plan a full day outing to Oceanside.
